The middle class and upper class Chinese consumers are growing, and if you haven't read the news, there are over 40million entrepreneurs in China - biggest number in the world. The level of sophistication is growing and the demand of better quality products is growing. The areas you've visited maybe downtown, but you have not seen the bigger scene of China - both Beijing and Shanghai - enough to justify the country through your own eyes. Please, next time when you want to write a blog about fashion in a country you've never been to, go to the higher end area and it'll blow your mind. Patek Phillipe and Ferrari's of the west? They're being purchased like candies here in China. And next time, please spell the names correctly.

i found your blog recently and find this perspective very interesting. I grew up in China and moved to the States, so I find myself straddling two views of the world.

This is an interesting idea, but business wise, i am not sure how it would even pan out. I am sure there is a niche market of Chinese consumers who yearn for genuine creations, which are neither mired in cultural stereotypes nor Western imitations, but - and this maybe cynical of me - I feel like generally, the class of nouveau riche in China who can afford creations at this price point don't necessarily share the same wants.

I am, however, intrigued by your thoughts, as I share similar ideas from time to time. It's not easy to negotiate. Looking forward to reading more of your work.
